Facts on ULC

The Learning Centre Childrens

  • 85 to 100 children come to the Centre daily
  • 35 of which are boarding at the school
  • Both day students and boarding school students are provided with food, education, outings, medical care and basic needs
  • These children were not getting proper care, and were loitering in the streets, as they did not have the luxury of maids or relatives to watch over them while their parents work at low paying jobs all day
    • Because of the lack of security and care for them, they were exposed to the dangers of human, drug and organ traffickers that are always on the prowl for helpless and desperate victims

Where do our children come from?

  • Mostly from the hill tribes in the Kachin region
  • Escape from religious persecution
  • Running away from military – soldiers who had guns and are far away from government control
  • Gone through all kinds of a physical and mental abuse
